SOIL. ART. HOME.

Hi, I'm Deb Rock, the artist behind The Sonrisa Life.

My work begins in soil, not software.

Long before I ever painted peppers, I grew them. What started as farming and fermentation became an award-winning seed-to-shelf hotsauce that earned national recognition and was featured in Martha Stewart Living.

I became the first Latina entrepreneur in the United States to bring an heirloom seed-to-shelf hot sauce to market, growing, harvesting, blending, bottling, and building Sonoma Hot Sauce from the ground up.

But peppers were never just about heat.

They were about memory. Family tables. Migration. Celebration. Survival. Tears. Joy.

Every pepper carries a story. Every meal carries a memory.

One of my greatest joys as a hot sauce maker was knowing my heart was always at the table. Every bottle I handcrafted became part of family dinners, celebrations, backyard barbecues, and quiet meals shared with people who mattered. Hot sauce was never just a condiment. It was an invitation to gather, to laugh, to tell stories, and to pass something made with love from one hand to another.

Over time, I realized I wasn't only making food. I was translating my relationship with the earth. The colors, curves, and character of each pepper carried something older than branding. They carried culture, resilience, beauty, and belonging.

That's how The Sonrisa Life was born.

Today, I transform my original pepper photography and farm harvests into modern folk art inspired by Sonoma wine country, Mediterranean kitchens, and the timeless ritual of gathering around the table. My work lives somewhere between kitchen and gallery, between nourishment and beauty.

I believe everyone has a pepper story.

My hope is that these pieces become more than beautiful artwork. I hope they become part of your home, your conversations, and your celebrations. A reminder that what we grow, what we cook, and what we share is never small.

So turn up the stove. Put the good wine on the table. Call your family. Invite your neighbors. Pass the hot sauce.

Because the best memories are almost always made in the kitchen.

Welcome to The Sonrisa Life.
